My Princess

April 9, 2011 Leave a comment

I’ve been MIA for nearly 2 weeks!  Time really does fly.  I’ve been fairly busy but I also managed to fit in a drama to watch too which I think is worth blogging about.  I think I finished this one in 3-4 nights LOL

TBH I haven’t watched any dramas for I think… more than 4 months now.  Reason being-

1: My internet is completely fked and dies everytime someone uses the landline- which means direct download is risky business
2. Not motivated to watch anything due to my lack of free time.  Full time work where you finish work at 7 really takes it out of you :|
3. I didn’t want to BT

But, I knew there were so many great series I was missing out on!!! I kept relying on Cel to give me series to watch XD But there was this one series I always wanted to watch.  Alas I gave in, and got this one.

My Princess!!!

I’m such a sucker for princess series XD

It looked so funny, sweet, cute, with fairly minimal family politics (I absolutely HATE series that have heaps of family politics)

Basically this series is about Lee Seol (Park Tae Hee), who lived a rather ordinary life and had been adopted from an orphange at 5 yrs, who discovers that she is a princess.  She enters the palace to help the restoration of the Royal existence, together with the help of Park Hae Young (Song Seung Hun).  He becomes responsible for teaching Lee Seol the manners of a princess.  However Park Hae Young is against the whole thing because his Grandfather wants to hand back all the national treasures he had taken to build the Dae Han group (founded by Park Hae Young’s grandfather), meaning he would lose everything.

Park Hae Young does many things to get rid of the princess, but through many hardships and quarrels, Lee Seol and Park Hae Young’s relationship grows and he ends up giving up so much for her ~cries~

TBH I really can’t remember specifically the nitty gritty of the political side of this series because I only paid attention to how they got together, so my recollection may not be completely correct XD

The Cast:

Park Hae Young!!!!

Played by Song Seung Hun, he is the supposed successor of the Dae Han Group, highly respected for its collection of national treasures.  Here he is taking a picture with the young Lee Seol, who can really act lol

He is so clean cut and handsome in this series.  I never watched his previous series because his roles were really dark and rough, and he was more perceived as a bad boy – nothing like his role in My Princess.  He was so rude at the beginning, but he became so adorable as the series progressed!

I felt so bad for him when he gave up so much for her, but he always did it with a smile :)  I love how he was always around to protect the princess hehe

Lee Seol – Lovely princess

Played by Park Tae Hee, she played the role very well, sporting clumsiness, cluelessness, cuteness and elegance altogether at the same time.  She was hilarious and I really enjoyed watching her ^^

Though I worry she will get wrinkles easily… I wish they gave her more clothes in the series too :( I always saw her in a black pom pom skirt with different tops, and sometimes in a different skirt with similar style.  The style was really nice, however I wanted to see a bit more variety.

Oh Yoon Ju – The villain

Played by Park Ye Jin, she is the villain of the series.  To me she was slightly psychopathic because she spoke very calmly but she always had this very psychopathic, blank look in her eyes :S

She was the highly respected director of the museum, and was against the princess and used all measures to screw the princess over.  She also used Park Hae Young and Nam Jung Woo to her full advantage!

Honestly I hated her guts so I guess she played her role well.  I don’t see why they did her hair like that, it looked so bad and made her look so butch – not to mention I think she’s had a lot of surgery…

Nam Jung Woo – The professor

Played by Ryu Soo Young, he is the “attractive” professor and he examines the national treasures etc.  Also the secret boyfriend of Oh Yoon Ju for 10 years, before she starts using her claws on Park Hae Young.  Lee Seol also had a long crush on him, but that didn’t progress to anything, however he was also always there to protect the princess :)

I really liked this series, there were politics but it wasn’t overly unbearable.  I admittedly fast-forwarded some parts (or else how would I finish it so fast!).  I wish the ending was a bit more… umm… clear cut?  But all the characters were really cute in this and I can imagine myself watching it again.

What other series are worth watching?  I wanted to watch Secret Garden, but it seems a little too melodramatic for me right now, so ideas for funny, romantic, no brainer series anyone? :)

Calling for Love – PRETTY MUCH SPOILER

October 4, 2010 Leave a comment

I’ve been pretty slack in keeping up with asian TV and music up until probably a month ago.  I just really couldn’t be bothered after I got my new laptop.  I was pretty content with streaming heaps of really old dramas until I thought I should probably start building up my collection again AHAHA

The last one I finished was Calling for love 呼叫大明星, starring Mike He and Charlene Choi.

I waited until it had ended for probably a month before I decided to watch it.  I was really put off by the fact that it had Charlene in it, and she was also speaking in Mandarin too…  The only thing that convinced me to watch it was Mike and the fact that it’s only 14 episodes.  Usually 14-16 episodes is a good number if you don’t want to see any dragging.

Synopsis in my words:

Mike He is a really famous actor, loved by all young people.  However he, his manager and friend are up their shoulders with debt.  During this time Mike decides to buy a computer generated lotto ticket.  Little did he know that he had actually won the big prize which was enough to solve all his money problems.  Too bad he lost it in the middle of an argument with Charlene at a bookstore.  When the manager and friend finds out they automatically think Charlene stole it and gets Mike to get close to Charlene and get the money back.

Charlene is a taxi driver that came from HK in search of her long lost father.  It so happens that her father is actually the father of a girl that Mike likes – Zhong Wei Li (played by Tracy Zhou).  Meanwhile her good friend Zhong Wei Li (played by Chen Zhi Kai) discovers that he really likes her.   Little does Charlene know that he is actually the son of a rich family who had run away from home and became a taxi driver to enjoy his life.  Furthermore he is arranged to marry Zhong Wei Li!

The missing lotto ticket brings Mike and Charlene closer together, but who do they end up choosing at the very end? (obvious answer)

The main characters:

Mike He as 柏野

Mike is actually forced to go into show business because his dad had left him a large debt before dying.  His dad was a fail movie director who neglected his family to follow his fail dream.  Now Mike has not his father debt to pay off, but his little sister also needs funding to follow her dream to be a skilled artist in Paris.

I still think he was best in Devil Beside You ehehe

Charlene Choi as 陳德馨

Charlene has come all the way from HK to Taiwan in search of her long lost father whom she had never met.  She becomes a taxi driver in hope that members of the public may have seen him.  She originally secretly likes her good friend 鍾威力 at the beginning but that seems to change :P

Charlene didn’t do too bad a job in this surprisingly.  I didn’t really like her sad scenes though as expected.  She actually managed to have fair chemistry between Mike, and I actually did want them to get together so that’s good XD

陳至愷 as 鍾威力

鍾威力 is the son of a rich family.  He cares very little for his wealth, and goes out to be a taxi driver with his good friend Charlene.  He has a childhood phobia of women due to ugly and fat aunties with lipsticks that harassed him as a kid.  However, he later realizes that he has actually fallen in love with Charlene, and can’t live without her.

He’s so cute in this, I felt so sorry for him by the end ><

周采詩 as 楊惟晨

楊惟晨, also Charlene’s sister, has secretly liked Mike since high school, and deliberately does an MV shoot with him to meet him again.  When she finds that Mike becomes more distanced from her she tries many ways to break Mike and Charlene apart.

This character was not an extremely annoying villain in this.  I did feel sort of sorry for her at the end, and I didn’t find her unbearable.  However, I think she’s not pretty at all =.= I first saw her in Hot Shot so it was a bit weird to see her in this elegant sort of role as well ahaha..

Anyhow, I would recommend this if you want some simple Mike goodness.  It’s got a simple and predictable storyline, and does not drag at all.

I found all the images above through Google images searches :)

Now that I have started to catch up on my series, this is my current line up:

Taiwanese:

  • 鍾無艷 – watching this atm.. it’s SOOOO good!! I love Ming Dao ehehe
  • Endless Love

Korean:

  • My Girlfriend is a Gumiho
  • Playfull Kiss
  • The SungKyunKwan Scandal
  • The Coffee House

I have to wait a while before I start watching the Korean ones since there are still quite a lot left to come out.  Can’t wait!

Any other great series to recommend please?

You’re Beautiful!

January 7, 2010 1 comment

I’ve just finished watching this Korean series I’ve been meaning to watch for months.  I’m sure most would know about this series, but I must do a post on this series!  It originated from an anime, and is about a girl that acts as a boy that joins into a popular boy band A.N.JELL.  Every episode was heart fluttering goodness and it was absolutely hilarious, cute and romantic!!  The guys that were chosen for the roles were perfect!  I am really considering watching the anime after watching this series.

It is 16 episodes which is pretty much as long as I would want any Korean series to be.  I must say it did drag a bit by the middle as suspected, but wasn’t too bad.  The ending was just a bit weak for me.  I would have liked more of the whole getting together part.  All in all this was a great series!!  If only the guys weren’t so young!!  By the end of the series I could barely choose which character I liked more!  Although I still like Tae Kyung (Jang Geun Seok) the most.  What the best part about it is that all the guys are actually singers in real life as well! Boy can they all sing BUAHAHAHA

An older song he sang

Lee Hung Ki plays cute and innocent adorable Jeremy in the series.  His hair really made his character shine.. it was so funny ahaha… In real life he the lead singer in the band F.T. Island.  To be honest I didn’t enjoy their previous songs as much but their newest album, and the songs Hung Ki sang in the series were very nice.

A song from F.T. Island’s “Cross & Change” album

Jung Yong Hwa plays the sensible Shin Woo.  He is a part of the new band C.N. Blue, also nicknamed “second F.T. Island”.  I felt so sorry for him throughout the whole series, but inevitably, what was meant to be was meant to be… Tae Kyung!!!!!

This is basically the only song I could find of his.. He seems to like to sing English?

Who can forget Park Shin Hye.  She was both Go Min Nam and Go Min Nyu.  She was too pretty and girly to pass off as a boy ahaha..I think Yoon Eun Hye was more manly in Coffee Prince.  Nevertheless she was so cute!!!!  She’s so much better in here than in Goong S.

I want this Pig Rabbit so bad now!!

Most pics were taken from their official website.

I would also recommend the You’re Beautiful OST as well.  I loved the songs from the series and they are sung by the actors in the series too!   This is the theme song that they all performed at the awards.

5 Year anniversary + other happenings

December 10, 2009 2 comments

The 6th of December, 2009 marked my 5 year anniversary with my better half Ricky.  It’s a bit late for an update.. but I guess better late than never right? haha..  Most people would say 5 years is a long time.  Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.  All I can say is that I am just very happy to have someone that cares for me the way I do for them.  We’ve been through our ups and downs, but what’s most important is that we’ve done so together.  Sometimes the stresses in life makes it hard for us to appreciate those little things in life, but everyday I am grateful for having a shoulder I can lean on at anytime, to be able to have a cuddle whenever I want, for having someone who I can rely on, and am most grateful that I have someone that knows what I am thinking before I even realize I’m thinking it, and is also willing to live with my many many imperfections.  But anyway, enough of the mooshy talk, I’m sure most people who are reading this are vomitting in their seats atm.  Sorry ppls ><

This year I decided to personalize something simple but very practical for everyday use… haha…  I used the past week to work on my gift to Ricky.  Sorry people, for his eyes only :P

My pandora bracelet, which was originally given to me for my birthday by Joey, has been slowly filled up by Ricky :) And what’s best is that he knew the exact charms I wanted without even asking me! wahahahehe happy ^^

We ended up going to Mizu restaurant for some sushi, it was very fresh, and it was a bonus because it was nice and soft since I’m still hopeless with eating proper food until today =.=

Ricky’s blog about the date is here for those that feel like having a read.

The past week has been quite eventful I must say.  Ricky graduated from his masters program on Tuesday 8th, CONGRATULATIONS!! Didn’t take many photos this time.  I also got to see my good friend Celeste graduate as well since the ceremony was at the same time.  It’s so exciting to see it because we’ve known each other since primary school and also went to high school together, and even went to the same university!  Just goes to show I’m getting old T.T  Congratulations Celeste :)

Tomorrow will be my turn to graduate!! I can’t believe that this time today I would be sitting in the UQ exhibition hall, in my graduation robe, sitting through my very own graduation.  OMG I’m only starting to realise that it’s really the end, and also the beginning of another chapter in my life.  Not very fond of having to take photos in this disgusting heat, but shall tolerate as much as I can.  I’m so scared of stacking it while walking up the stairs to the stage… or tripping while walking on the stage.. =.= would be such a nightmare.

After tomorrow, I shall be heading off to Sydney for a week!!! I can’t wait to eat heaps of yummy foods, and roam some unfamiliar streets and see different things.  I haven’t been out of Brisbane since 4 years ago so extremely excited!!!

Totally not related, but I’ve been watching Super Idol (超級偶像).  It’s not super great, but for some reason I’ve just continued to watch it.  I shall leave you all with the video of my two most favourite singers.

朱俐靜 – this one has talking bit for the first 2 minutes before she starts singing

謝俊奇 – I like him because he looks eery ehehe.. and has a nice thick low voice
