Haul post (long and pic heavy :))

October 19, 2010 5 comments

Firstly a shout out to Eric my brother-in-law who’s birthday is today – Happy Birthday!

This is rather belated as I purchased this over a month ago.  Just been too lazy!  My purchase was from Adambeauty.  I love Adambeauty ^^ The only thing I don’t love is that it doesn’t stock everything but you can’t ask for toooo much can you?

Kose’s Sekkisei sunscreen SPF 50+ PA+++ 60g

May I mention how pretty the bottle is? It’s a shimmery blue as opposed to the dark matte blue I originally thought 🙂

I haven’t tried this as I am still a long way from finishing my Allie one.  I am petrified of getting tanned, I am sick and tired of my damn freckles, and it’s approaching summer here in Brisbane too.

I shall be purchasing Palmers fade milk soon to attempt fading my freckles.  Review shall follow in the future after I buy and try.  If that fails.. I’m going to try Revitol.

This particular sunscreen has received great ratings in Jap mags, as well as online too.  I put off buying it because, well I don’t know.  I think I got sucked into free body spray in Allie’s promo set =.=

I imagine it will be similar to Allie with no white cast, great milky texture and good lasting ability 🙂

Skin79 The Oriental Gold BB Cream SPF 25 PA++ 40g

This BB cream was highly recommended by Eki.  It looked so nice I had to get it!

It claims to have whitening and wrinkle improvement.  It apparently contains “white tea, green tea and black tea” to “keep skin brighter and firmer”.

I avoided Skin79 BB creams for a long time because of its grey tinge, its reputation to not sink into the skin, and apparent dark shades.  This one had none of these!!

It comes with a blush/lip tint + mirror!  It actually works too 🙂  I was using this BB cream + blush in the pics in my previous post.

BB cream on left, bare skin on the right and blush/lip tint in the middle.  As you can see it’s a perfect colour match and the blush/lip tint gives a really nice fresh pinky tint to the skin.

    • I used to love my The Skin Shop BB cream but this is my new favourite.
    • Don’t need a lot to get good coverage.  Finish is a smooth complexion.  Love!
    • Blush/lip tint is awesome
    • Does not irritate my skin at all
    • No heaviness

    • Pump dispenser is sort of messy
    • Requires a fair few pumps before product comes out for the first time, after which it’s fine (don’t try taking the rubber stopper off!)
    • Only 40g 😦
    • not a high SPF.  I prefer over SPF30 at least, but it’s alright.  I always use sunscreen beforehand anyway.
    • This can be good or bad but it leaves a “dewy” finish => I can’t stand it and I end up patting some powder on top of it because it’s too dewy for me.

Visee Blossom Eyes in Gr-4

The packaging is sooo pretty with the off white floral embossing.  I really wanted a neutral green palette and this did a great job!  The back of the packaging shows a how-to.

The applicator it comes with is quite disappointing TBH.  It doesn’t seem to pick up the product as well as the previous Blooming or Blackish Forming ranges.

The top two shades are cream, but feels dry almost like powder, much better than the yucky greasy stuff and no creasing with eye primer.  However, it takes a bit of layering for the colour to show up.

Bottom three are powder shades.

Pretty and shimmery neutrals ^^

Texture is silky with little to no fall outs.

Visee Blossom Eyes PU-2

Packaging is same as above.  The top cream shade looks purple but is actually brown, but lighter than that of GR-4’s.

For some reason I couldn’t get the lighting right so it’s a bit warmer but it’s still pretty close.

The medium purple is pretty light and gives the eye just a purple tint.

Texture again is silky.

One thing I love about both palettes is the darkest shades.  They are soooo pretty!  However, overall I have to say I am disappointed with this range.
I loved how it looked, but when applied to the eyes, it didnt’ really give me “wow” I was expecting… Maybe it’s the applicator’s fault… But nevertheless these are still great palettes for spring/summer since they are so fresh and neutral!  I love the green more than I do the purple 🙂

Coffret D’or C Curve Eyes in 07 Plum Wine

This is my first Coffret D’or E/S palette.  I was sucked into the beautiful plum shade and the highlighter since I had none XD

No more jewelled case, just big printing on a very slim case.

The case is so slim that it falls backward when the case is open, because the mirror is so big and weighs more than the shadows.
Despite that, it weights 3.9g so they aren’t really ripping us off 🙂

The applicators are really nice and picks the shadows up well.

The highlighter does a great job without looking OTT shimmery 🙂

I wanted this palette to give me a more smoky purple look, which it did successfully.

Texture is actually harder than most palettes I have.  Probably similar to T’estimo’s discontinued palettes – which figures since Coffret D’or was the replacement for T’estimo anyway.  Nevertheless, it glides on the eyes easily, and leaves a subtle shimmery finish.

And that ends my post 🙂 Now it’s time for me to wash off my Coconut Hair soak 🙂 I’ve left it on for way too long XD

Long make up post

May 12, 2010 7 comments

As promised, a very delayed update ahahaha… I’m so lazy.  But this will be quite a long one..

My sis got back from her holiday a little while ago and she bought me some goodies!!! So happy!!

I got some more Sasatinnie mascara and a Kiss Me Heroine Make eyeliner pen (best eyeliner in my opinion, no smudge even with no base and easy to remove).

I received my first Jill Stuart palette!!! This was from the Illuminance eyes range in Layered Gem 07

This palette was probably one of the more boring but safer colour combos.  The middle two colours look like a pink brown combo, but it actually shows up a more pinky purply, not sure why.

  • Really pretty and sturdy package
  • Very shimmery, very bling
  • Fun to play around with the colours.  The colours look light, but actually make a nice smokey look.  Can mix and match with other E/S to give a different finish
  • Silky smooth texture

  • Not sure if this is a con, but it has this flowery scent.  Some would say it is pleasant, but to me it steers more towards the powerful side.
  • Fallouts, a lot
  • Not 100% convinced, I definitely don’t love it. The colours didn’t really pop like I expected them to.  Nevertheless, I love using it for mix and matching, it’s so bling!

Will I buy again? I think I would, but only if they came in more interesting colours.  I only have my eyes on the Crystal Ruby palette from the newest range for now.

The Skin Shop BB cream SPF37 PA+++ 50g

My sister picked this out for me.  Such a good pick!

  • Great neutral colour match
  • Creamy consistency, easy to blend
  • Sheer-medium coverage (I think it has potential to build coverage)
  • Dries to matte finish
  • No skin irritation
  • Does not smudge off easily, quite waterproof as well.  I washed my hands with detergent and it stayed put.
  • No smell
  • Great package.  Looks so similar to Skin79 super BB cream ahhaah but I think this better, no greyness.
  • SPF 37 PA+++ I love sun protection 🙂

My sis found these Hair poofer velcro things.  They came in a pack of three.

You’re supposed to be able to just stick these things in your hair and just walk out the house with it still in there.  I’m not daring enough ahah.. I did do it once when I forgot about it, and by the time I remembered I was at the shopping centre so I couldn’t exactly pull it out lol.  No one noticed though 🙂 I use it like normal rollers now.

Sana Covercom Powder SPF 50+ PA+++ all those ++++++’s!!

Finally collected my face powder from Joey.  I was so late in getting it from her >< But it was good to catch up when we did, while at Buddha Fest!!

The lighting is a bit dark so this is not their true colour.  I put the Covercom next to my Bihadashi, both in the lightest colour they come in (light beige).  They look the same, feel similar, coverage is around the same.  I think what stands out to me is Covercom’s puff! It’s so puffy!!! Love it 😀 and all those ++++’s!! I’m sold lol

Today’s mini haul.  Cheapest haul ever!!!!

Nak dry shampoo.  This is Australian made 🙂

Ricky was reading some blogs and came across dry shampoo so he suggested it to me.  The girl wrote that it gives hair texture.  I tried it, and it relaxes my hair, but doesn’t add texture ahah.. It feels softer afterwards and actually feel refreshed too 🙂 Maybe I need to have dirtier hair for it to add texture.  It sprays on as a powder and you brush it out after waiting for 2 minutes.  Smells good too.  On the exi side though – AUD$19.95.  Ricky, there is no such thing as a cheap deal in Australia.. the cheapest one there was still $15 😦

EVAS Elevee BB cream SPF36 PA++ 50g

You can’t really see the blending.  But it actually does provide some coverage, just not sure why it didn’t show up.

I was walking past Elizabeth Arcade today and saw a new Korean shop open!! I had to go in and take a look.  It’s mostly accessories but at the back I saw these BB creams and skin products.  Thought it would be at least AUD$40 but OMG this was only $5.95 after a 10% discount!  I had to get it O.o

  • Creamy
  • Good neutral colour match, similar to TSS, no greyness
  • Not waterproof, washed off easily with detergent
  • Sheer coverage, buildable
  • Although it’s creamy, it doesn’t seem to blend that well.  You have to be careful when applying because it can get flaky
  • Still need to see if it will irritate my skin.  I don’t have much hopes for this BB cream since it was so freaken cheap!! But it’s a bonus if it gives me a good outcome 😀
  • Dries matte, but feels more moisturizing than TSS.

Castledew Over Setting Gloss in colour 9

Got this as well for only AUD$5.85 after 10% discount!  So freaken cheap!!!! They didn’t even try to rip the Aussies off with cheap Korean products!!  Tempted to buy more colours before they decide to raise the prices eheheheh…

I still don’t know what colour suits me.  This is a bright pinky orangey red.  Shows up darker on my lips with a red tinge.  I still don’t know whether I suit lighter, orangey or pinky tones.  I guess, I can only experiment to know!! BUAHAHAHAHAHAHA  This stuff smells nice and fruity too 😀

I am quite happy with my very cheap splurge.  I feel satisfied, without any guilt!  I love cheap finds! AHAHAHAHAHA

Happy Easter!!!!!

April 1, 2010 4 comments

Happy Easter everyone!  I think I’m most excited about the long weekend more than anything XD

Some unexpected easter chocolates from the teachers at the school I’m working with.  They are so nice!!!

I think I have just begun to appreciate MAC.  I know it’s been the rave since forever but  I just never found them that attractive, and E/S-wise I would much prefer Japanese brands over MAC.
Don’t know how I came across MAC, but I’ve been trying to find a good eye primer since forever.  The girls at DJ’s MAC were so helpful and patient.  I used to think that MAC is overpriced, but it was actually the most affordable of all the brands of eye primers available, at $AUD 35.  Unfortunately Soft Ochre was sold out or else it would have been a perfect match.  I originally got Painterly but after some consideration, I realized it’s too pink and a bit too dark for me.

Bare Study

Bit hard to see with the lighting, but:
Far right = Bare Study – neutral golden shimmer
Middle darker shimmer you can see = Rubenesque – darker orangey gold shimmer

Haven’t tested the staying and crease proof power of this thing yet but shall update once I do.  I usually have the terrible oiling up at the crease and creasing by the end of the day.  Not to mention the corner of my left eye is constantly tearing and causes me havoc.

My good friend Beckie went to HK a little while ago, and she was nice enough to help me buy some stuff from Sasa 🙂  Haven’t really had time to test them out until recently.

Sana Maikohan and Kiss Me Heroine Make eyeliners

Top = 1 swipe of Sana
Middle = a few swipes of Sana
Bottom = Heroine make

The Sana Maikohan eyeliner received some high reviews on the Sasa website so I thought it might be a good gamble.  Boy was I wrong.  Do you see the running of the eyeliner into the cracks of my hands? the colour is not really black either, and it’s not waterproof even though it says it is.  Quite disappointed in this one.

The heroine make this time was the tub version.  The brush isn’t the easiest to use because it does not have a defined tip, rather a blunt nail polish brush look.   However the product itself is just as good as the pen.  Doesn’t smudge, doesn’t fade, doesn’t run, and very black.  And my pen version has just about run out too 😀 very good.

Sasa’s own Sasatinnie Super Dolly Powerful Curling Mascara

I actually really like this mascara.  It’s cheap, the one-sided comb makes it really easy to apply without clumps, it’s buildable, and it leaves the eyelashes feeling soft as well.  In terms of curling, I can’t really judge because of my permanently curled eyelashes, but I think it does do a bit of curl enhancing and the volume it creates is pretty good too.  I like 😀

I also got the BRTC Jasmine BB cream but didn’t end up keeping it for myself.  I tried it once and it is definitely very nice, but I thought it might be a bit too white for me.  The coverage was good too.  I think the only thing was that I felt slightly oily.

My other good friend Joey also went to HK and helped me buy the Sana covercom face powder.  I just need to find time to get it ><

I feel so lucky that people are willing to help me buy things even when they could use the money to buy other stuff. I will definitely remember to return the favour if I go anywhere substantial ehehe.

Long weekend!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Next term I’m going to be torn up all over the place as I will be only working 4 days, and servicing 4 schools in total over each fortnight.  wahh.. see how I go I guess.  I would really rather have 5 days, but must appreciate what I have, and not concentrate on what I don’t.  As always, must soldier on!

Leave you with a song

More Sydney, make up and shopping

March 2, 2010 4 comments

I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go down to Sydney again over the weekend.  I loved it so much!  Got to catch up with Ricky’s friends, hang out and not worrying about going home.  The only thing I didn’t love was that I brought my camera down, but forgot to put the sd card in it… so I didn’t get to take any photos!!! So pissed!!  Also I was quite fatigued as I have been working nonstop 7 days for 3 weeks, so I was quite tired throughout the whole trip 😦

Coincidentally we went down on the same weekend the Madi Gras was on.  How exciting!  Too bad all the guys didn’t want to go and see.. it would have been so good!  We saw the aftermath though and it was pretty chaotic, even at the early hours of 12/1 am.  Such an eye opener!  Too bad no photos 😦

These were my goals- eat shitloads of soup dumplings from Din Tai Fung, go to coach and look at their bags, buy pork jerky and go to the chinatown make up stores and check out the eyeshadows.  I got 3/4 done.  Can never have enough of those crab soup dumplings!!!!! So damn good!!!

My new Coach

How can you not go and buy freshly made pork jerky?

Most photos will be on Ricky’s camera, sucks that I have non of my own, such a shame 😦 But the little trip was nice and refreshing, need to have more of these ehehe

Just before going to Sydney, my sister also dragged me to get my eyelashes permed.  The result:

Wasn’t too impressed when I saw it straight after, but the mascara does wonders.  Much easier to deal with now and I don’t have to worry about clipping my eyelashes and making sure they are tidy.  I was scared that non waterproof would flop my eyelashes so put off using it for the 2 days recommended to stay away from heat and humidity.  Surprisingly no flopping occurred, and the mascaras I used really can’t hold a curl at all!  The lady that did it for me made sure it was nice and tidy, and tailored the perming time, and rod size to suit my eyes and eyelashes.

Details are here at Unique Beauty Salon.  The lady has a room inside the hair salon.

Now is time for me to go through some of my newer cosmetics:

Somang Coenzyme Q10 BB sunbase SPF46 PA++

This is my first BB cream and when I first squeezed it out, I was horrified because it was this dark really grey looking cream.  But surprisingly it blends really well with the skin and it loses that dark grey colour as soon as it blends into the skin (right side of my hand is blended, you can see slightly more shiny skin on the right)

Coverage: sheer- medium (although I wouldn’t recommend caking any foundation or BB cream on because the end result is just cakey), smooths out complexion without making you look like you have foundation or anything on, very natural finish.
Texture: thick creamy consistency
Scent: light refreshing floral fragrance.  I don’t usually like cosmetics that smell but this smell wasn’t unpleasant at all 😀
Tone: grey, suits yellow or pink skin tones I think.. I think I would be around an NC20-25.
Skin type: Oily to normal.  Surprisingly, even though it looks shiny on the picture, it dries to a matte look.  I actually need to put a bit of cream on first before applying this BB cream because I have slightly drier areas on my skin.  It left my skin pretty smooth for most of the day, even on really hot days when I’m working all day.

All in all, I would buy this again.

KissMe Magical Clear pore cleanser

I thought it was time I give my pores a good cleaning, and the sales woman said this was good.  To be honest it doesn’t look too impressive, the consistency is like runny egg white.  You’re supposed to massage into wet skin, wait 3 minutes, then apply more and massage more in then wash off.  Can’t really see a dramatic difference, but my pores do look slightly smaller, maybe a few more washes will do the trick.

Palgantong Zebra Eyes Mascara

Before I permed my eyelashes, this mascara was pretty fail.  It is a volume mascara I believe.  Apart from it’s nice thick and black results, it flopped the eyelashes big time, just like the Dejavu fibrewig mascara.  I had to apply first, then clip, praying that my eyelashes would stay tidy.  I’m actually wearing this mascara in the picture above in my permed eyelash pic.  This mascara is actually pretty good, if you have permed your eyelashes haha.

This mascara is also not waterproof, just like fibrewig, it comes off easily with warm water.  I made the mistake of forgetting about that when I had hydrotherapy the other day… heated pool for 6 hours.. the people must have thought I looked hideous.. lucky I realized quickly and washed it all off.

And that ends my post for today 🙂
